saturday evening with mr. t ....

this week a short essay on fathers...

My dad took us on vacations. Your dad took you wherever in the world he was stationed. Good thing California didn't fall into the ocean. I was there once. (My family's extra weight added to California could have been risky, ya know! They already let the Hoovers and Bonds in, and now they've got the Terminator for Governor. When Jerry Brown was governor, he didn't add any extra weight because his feet were an inch off the ground anyway. Not that there's anything wrong with that in California).

But I digress. Ha-ha...(I added the ha-ha with the idea of a voice inflection used by a sword fighter with his sword up in the air, you know, "on guard, ha-ha!" in a Shakespeare play).

Yes, the only way to look at the lyric of "Old Man take a look at my life, (I said "life" not "wife") I'm a lot like you" is to laugh and say, thank God I'm not a lot like George W. Bush, Sanjaya, Anna Nicole, Rush Limbaugh, Donald Trump (although we'd like to be as rich sometimes), or that poor mentally ill kid who shot all those people at Virginia Tech last Monday. and a long list of others.

In the end, (and on other parts of our bodies) we have no choice but to inherit some of the traits of our parents. Let us hope they are the best traits - only God can determine that I guess. Now if you will excuse me, I have to go spend a half hour on the toilet at age 51, reading the newspaper with the door locked.........when I return, I would not go into the bathroom to shut the window for at least an hour if I were you.
Hope you got some serious stuff and a laugh out of the above essay.

That's exactly the trait you probably inherited...a sudden urge to escape to the shitter to read the news paper with a double flush finish and everything coming up roses, even the mosquitoes & flies in the park across from grammas probably wouldn't go on that suicide mission!
