saturday afternoon with Dan...

something different this week , a poem from Dan. as he wrote me : "Wrote this as a song on my guitar but in this version I am leaving out parts of it, it makes a good poem." so ladies and gentlemen , here it is...

Gramma’s House

A different time a different place
Always a smile on our face
Up at gramma’s house we had not a care
& love was always in the air
Tom & Dan, Cyndi, and Steve,
We had nothing but fun from morn till eve.

Playin’ in the yard or in the park,
At the barn, or after dark.

Stealin’ cookies from the jar,
Walkin’ the creek that took us far.

Catchin’ snakes or catchin toads
Go cart’s haulin down the dirt road.

Jumpin’ around in the hay,
Opening gifts on Christmas day,

On the swing set, bare foot in the grass,
Going fishin’ for some bass

Creating fun from the very start,
The lesson today is to stay young at heart.

Although some are gone that we all love,
They smile from the heaven’s with God above.

We miss those days, it’s been a long time
Up at Gramma’s house, it changed our lives.
Our memories of everyone we still hold dear
It’s so far away but seems so near
Even though things have changed
Our memories can’t be re-arranged,
It’s in our heart’s and never gets old
It belongs to us, it’s in our soul.
Gramma still lives in our heart’s today
Even though it seems so far way
Nothing can detract or detour,
Looking back at the way we were,

A different time a different place,
Always a smile on our face
Up at Gramma’s house we had not a care, and love was always in the air.
