it was 40 years ago today...

the apollo moon mission . i was glued to our t.v.,watching the live coverage of the take-off .
i had been fascinated with nasa since first grade , and this was the culmination of 9 years
of excitement . we (the imperial we) were going to the moon ! it was such a spectacle .
the rest of the family was not quite as enthused as i , but they did let me get my
fill of the coverage , such as it was in those days. nasa.com has some digitally enhanced
footage and other goodies at their website , and i'm posting the links here,
in case anyone is\was as interested as i. enjoy...

Thanks, I will look at some of these links. I was watching alot about it this week-interviews with astronauts etc. Yes, I also was fascinated by the whole thing. Not sure if this younger generation realizes what an accomplishment that was at the time, ya know? And I remember it back in the day, when I was watching it. Even the recovery mission where the capsule would come down with parachute and frogmen get them, was a real hold your breath nailbiter back then. Awesome!

Sooner or later, some journalists and reporters always give their own version or opinion of something. It depends on what format they are using to express it. Now, there is an agenda behind the curtains, then a sense of truth and normalcy convincing the public they are seeing an objective story. My opinion, just report the friken news and I'm smart enough to figure it out myself. Most news is negative (and most TV shows) human misery and suffering and fear mongering. People are drawn to it like moths to the flame. I personally try and focus on other things. Cronkite did make President Johnson cringe with his viewpoint of the war.

Today if you made an official cringe with a viewpoint, you get 80different comments on it, which is okay, but when a person owns a monopoly of stations you are not getting news anymore, just their spin on it and yak yak yak........either side of the fence. I agree, let us make up our own mind and stop calling us un- patriotic or a moron, or shouting and interrupting, if we disagree. What example is that setting for kids anyway?
