Merry Christmas , and the last magical mystery tour letter

sh_letters#31

happy holidays one and all ...hope everyone is having
or had a great day . today i am publishing the last of the
letters i wrote to tom , back in the good old days when
we were much more innocent...and of course much younger
the postmark says oct 20,'71 and oct 20 '11 i had intended
to put it up.but it was also my dads birthday,so went with
that instead...

i will not be posting anything in the foreseeable future,
as my life at this time is in a lot of flux, and i just can't seem to
muster any enthusiasm for this blog at present.i am hoping
that later next year when things settle down a bit i will
be able to concentrate on this project more.i have to admit
feeling guilty about not posting but very sporadically...
you know what they say,"life is what happens while you are
making other plans"...

this blog has been a labor of love, and i have enjoyed
working on it immensely.the memories,ah yes the memories
were the best part.i'm glad we had a chance to relive a lot of
good times,and good memories...

so long for now,
steve

Just saw this Dec. 30, 2011 this morning. Been busy with holidays entertaining tow kids on break and Nathan got the flu.

you have done a tremendous job at this blog. "You the man" at posting information we feed you and your own stuff as well. I found the letters and the photos most fascinating as they are the written word and visual history. Many of your photos I have never seen before! Imagine a photo of your self you have never seen that opens up a memory door you forgot many decades ago. Wow! Our memories get fuzzy with time and melt together two or more pieces that were once separate. Our collective memories sometimes help sort those merged memories out.

But this last letter really indicates your strong desire to stay in touch with an extended family you left behind, as is our desire also. We all wonder "if things had been different. I wish we could have come out there at Christmas - at your age, my son's age now, that would have been a boost to you and Cyndi and your mom. Maybe you would have come back to Michigan because of that visit, you never know. But as you said (Lennon said it in a song on his last album "Beautiful Boy") "Life is what happens when you're making plans." Perhaps if my mom had been more forceful and less worried about Dad's recent lay off at the time, she would have insisted on seeing her sister and spent the money for us all to come out. Hindsight is 20/20 of course. But yes, that really would have been something.

Nonetheless, the sentiment was there, and returned decades later when we all found each other again via internet. We have been blessed these past 7 years or so to share the past, the photos and the letters here if only for the few eyes who actually care. Our ancesters and parents would be proud that we remembered them and may pass this on to our children, grand children and great grandchildren.

If the blog slows down , not a big deal, we still keep in touch. If we remember something or find a photo I am sure we will post it anyway. It is scary to thik how we are aging and life only lasts so long. Every Christmas season i find myself longing to hear those old voices and see them and their laughter and gabbing around the dinner table and so on. At least here we can get some of that.

"Excuse the Mistakes" - (hahaha, I'll never forget that "Aunt Joann sign off" as long as I live!)
