happy birthday gramma...

margaret allen , born on this day in 1892 .

one of my personal faves ...

when i think of how much the world changed during
her lifetime , two world wars , the automobile ,
aeroplanes , radio and television , i am so glad
i was able to feel so connected to her and the past .
she was the lynch-pin of our young lives , the one
constant in what was an ever changing world that
we were growing up in . we were so very lucky to
have her in our lives . and we all still miss her ,very
very much .
so happy birthday gramma , and thanks for loving us ...

Wow nice commentary Steve, you really expressed it well. Good pics too. Of course I still miss gramma. She was the only grand parent I ever grew up with. I still visit cherry Grove in Clare. I still think about the past like you and all the grandkids. Well she did live a long time, that is for certain, and I'm grateful for her loving us as well. Never ever forgotten.

Very good write up and photos. Thanks. Linchpin is an understatement. She had to raise a family under the most difficult conditions-the Depression. and then if that wasn't enough, the grandkids came along, lol. Actually every time I smell bushes that are the same smell as the old hedge, I feel like I am right next to the old hedge. Or if I smell and hear bacon cooking, I think of grandma making breakfast for us little kids. Sometimes when I drift off to sleep on the couch or bed, I'll think for just a second I am on that old green sofa in her living room going to sleep. you know it was real, yet seems like a dream.
