here is something relevant i received from tom this morning
Was thinking early this morning just now of old 27 house and how grandfather Allen had built it. He must have been determined to make sure Grandma had a home to stay in old old 27 after he was gone…he must have known he would go before she would. But he built it 5-6 years for he passed. As I was thinking I wondered if he chose the loctation on purpose, with the golf course up the road for the guys to play while the women visited, knowing that they all loved to play golf, and there was nothing to for them do when they came with their wives (his daughters) if that golf course was not there. At least not without having to drive somewhere. Or it just happened that way. But he also had built a meeting place for everyone on the holidays. Not all the time mind you, but some of the time. Perhaps he did not realize what he had built, it just happened to be a place of family meetings. This was before the Mickles lives and settled in Oscoda, and the Hoovers were even in Grand Rapids yet. The Korean War was still on. And little did he realize that snowmobiles would take over in the 1970’s and 80’s. The only relatives nearby except the local ones were the Timiln’s but this is before Timlin grandchildren. We’ll never know if it was a plan by Floyd or a fluke. My guess is a little of both and hopeful thinking. And it’s funny the person who lives in the house now, like all 2nd and third owners of homes down the line, have any real idea of the history behind the house they occupy. Nor would they care because it is not their family. So on this Christmas Day, we will simply haunt them…………….that it is what an “old haunt” is for………..Boo and Merry Christmas ...
