cousins, what to say? no favorites, just saw more of some than of others. also age differences come into play. for instance, kathy and pat were both several years older than i was . i adored kathy and really looked up to pat. at some point in the early '60s,he gave me his shoebox full of baseball and football cards. score! i was so stoked, thought i was the cats meow.
he came down to stay with us in n.canton ohio for a bit so my dad ,who was an army recruiter at that time, could help him get into the service.he didn't want to get drafted, wanted to enlist so that he could do something besides be a groundpounder.in the process of doing all this, he was found to have a goiter, which made him in-eligable for military service. i kind of got the impression he was a-ok with that, but maybe that was just me.
just saw him every once in a while after that. he came out to visit with us in socal the second year we were here. even took down our christmas lights for us. he didn't realise that they are left up all year round out here, but hey, it's the thought that counts, right?
the last time we saw each other, he and his wife came out to vegas, where my then wife and i were living at the time. they were on vacation, having a good old time. we met them for dinner and drinks, and then they wanted to gamble. imagine that. after a couple of hours we parted ways. heard about him through my mom of course. but we never saw each other again. pat was taken from us way too soon on september 28,1995.
