Daniel Edward Hoover Sr.
Daniel Edward Hoover Sr., born on July 7, 1931, in Clare County, passed from this world on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, embraced in the arms of those who loved him.

Daniel moved to Midland where he worked for The Dow Chemical Co. until his retirement in 1982. He then opened his own company, MidMichigan Repair, Inc. He thrived in the creative challenges of the business world until his second retirement due to health problems in 1991. He then somewhat reluctantly passed the business into the willing hands of his son Ruhl. The business is still open and growing today under Rulh's management and has grown with the addition of an archery division,

The freedom of "true" retirement adventure began for Daniel and his loving companion, Lorraine Farmer, as they traveled the United States in their motor home. He reveled in the visits of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. We who have loved him dearly will now remember him in our hearts forever.

Surviving Daniel are his children, Kathryn Lavanah "Kitty" Hoover Taylor of California, Lorna Hoover (Brad) Walmsley, Daniel (Martha) Hoover III, Douglas (Becky) Hoover, Ruhl (Marilyn) Hoover all of Midland, Jill Hoover (Craig) Thurston of Frankenmuth and Jackie Hoover (Oley) Larsen of Duluth, Minn; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; his brother Dwayne Hoover of Las Vegas, Nev.; his sister, Phyllis Byers of Zainesville, Ohio; and his loving companion, Lorraine Farmer and her children Cindy Wickman and William Farmer. He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Hoover; his parents, Roy A. and Mirla (Budd) Hoover; his brother Ben Hoover; brother-in-law and friend Herb Byers; and his granddaughter, Ashley Cook.

A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, from 5-7 p.m. at the Smith-Miner Funeral Home.

Once again, sorry to here about Dan's passing. I didn't know all this info about him. Sounds like he was quite a guy. I also didn't know you had cousin on your dad's side living in CA. and also that Dwayne was in Vegas. I rememeber meeting Dwayne one Christmas at gramma's.
