You know who said:
Thanks for the birthday "card." You guys are cards anyway. Pete Best, hahahaha. Rule #1: Never release photos - they may be used against you in a Court of jesters.
Now the Beatles need two more guys. We all better start practicing. Regarding guitar: when will I ever give up the ghost? Wait a minute, I am a ghost...of former self. Oh to be skinny again with no wrinkles........
Happy Birthday Tom. Looks like the same cord, or a variation thereof, on the axe. Let's all try and remain as wrinkle free as possible this year eh? And-why are there buzzards circling you whereever you go?
Tom said - Yeh I saw that card. The buzzards are used car salesman, the IRS, lawyers, real estate agents, and, uh, surgeons.
i hate to pat myself on the back (no,really) but i really like this post.it has it all...humor...drama...pathos.glad you enjoyed it my good man...
Actually, now that i think of it, wasn't Billy Preston sometimes referred to as the 5th Beatle?
damn, now that you mention that i think you're right...but wasn't brian epstein also the fifth beatle?jeebus, how many fifth beatles could there possibly be?
Tom said - hahaha. here we go. the funnarguement "who was the fifth Beatle." everyone is right....the deceased Brian Eptein is probably the most deserving title of fifth Beatle. he is the one who perservered and ut them on the map and into the national spotlight. Without him, they would have probably given up after a few more years of playing bars, got legitimate jobs, knocked up a girl and got married and divorced, been another set of Liverpool bums. but you never know. Also Stuart Sutcliff, the orignal bass player who quit, then a year or so later died, was the original fifth Beatle if you want to get technical. Also you could call Pete Best, the original long term drummer could be called the 5th, but he is "best" known as the "other Beatle" out of respect, who is "still alive." Often, George Martin ("Sir George," their producer,) was referred to as the fifth Beatle because of his musical collaboration with them. Then again, Neil Aspinal, the road manager and now curator of the Beatles "museum" and Apple Corps director type guy, and the deceased Mal Evans, the roadie and body guard, were both referred to as fifth, or at least part of the "inner circle" (not to be confused with "the Inner Light"). Sarcastically, the other three and the Apple staff often referred to John's 2nd wife, Yoko ono, ("Ono, it's Yoko") as the fith Beatle. Even "Murray the K," the NY disc jockey tried to declare himself the fifth Beatle (asshole). So I have so many in line ahead of me, I'll never have a shot at the job, hahaha. Maybe the Stones need a new guitar player. They get a new once in a while.........
Tom said - oh, I forgot, temporarily, the Maharishi was the fifth Beatle, hahaha.
yiu know tom,if had had all that info at my fingertips, that might have changed the post somewhat........nahhhhhhhhh...
I spent way too much time on this stuff, know way too much based on material read. I should be paid to teach college courses on the Beatles. But it is not a valued commodity in most academic areas of course, just a sidelline at best. Pete Best.........
hey that pete best line was a piece of inspiration from dan,the more i looked at it,the more i liked it.and as far as that goes, the picture was his idea too.i just executed it...
Hey common guys, what about affirmative action, dammit, it was Billy Preston! Just let me hear Get back without the keyboard.....But, Tom was really great at all the Beatles tunes. And, Tom had a Paul McCartney halloween mask too - drew a mustache on it around '67 i think. Hey that thing would be worth something now.
Tom said - McCartney could use it himself...
