Thanks for the links Steve. Been watching History channel a little etc. Talk about balls. I hope if shit ever hits the fan, your guys' Prez has enough. No offense personally, it just worries me because of course I'm a right wing hateful war monger who doesn't have a clue about world peace etc. hahaha. Really though, very challenging world we are living in. I wish nukes had never been invented, or at least completely abolished after the big ones in Japan. How do you stop evil? Not just with idealistic philosophy alone...so far.

glad you like the links.i just don't know how i would have been,in that situation.i'd love to think i'da been the biggest badass on the beach.but the reality?who the freek knows...
i personally like our chances better with our current c.i.c.,at least not to escalate anything beyond whatever was necessary for the situation.thats something that always worried me about the last crew.as they tended to show time and again.
i think evil needs to be addressed in a multi-faceted way,we don't as a nation always need to be swinging our dick all over the world...

well....I know you can't spread democracy overnight with one swipe of a dick, yeah. People have to want it bad enough in their own countries. We are limited as to what we can do. Because certain people put limitations on us, which is another reason why, for example, North Korea is still a threat. I used to think that we were strategizing about getting a foothold in Iraq for a reason. There are certain realities that are really hard to deal with. I can't imagine the balls and what was going on in these guy's minds on D day. Some guy has a website I heard and has been interviewing ww2 vets about all this and more, in order to preserve history as it happened. Not sure the web address though. It's always bothered me how we treat our veterans.

This Dick Winters link is interesting too, he does deserve the Congressional Medal of Honor. I've heard alot about those guys that dropped way in there and took care of Business.

This past year PBS has been running newer interviews and old footage ov WWII veterans, and a special on the cemeteries in Europe and England, etc. Back then, you mostly knew who your enemy was (not including spies). Now, since Vietnam especially, one does not easily recognize one's enemy or threat as they blend in with society. That makes it especially hard to deal with. Plus as Dan mentioned, the Nuclear weapons developing (ie N. Korea) and some countries "little secrets." You can posture all you want, but if one nuke gets loose from a loose screw country, it could be all over for everyone (the idea, of course, is starting a chain reaction of nuclear counter attacks). Now add political idealogoy or dogmatic extremist religious zealots groups into the mix (pick either AL Queda or American militia groups) and you have a world full of dangerous factions who's sole purpose in life is the destruction of others who disagree with them. We now have, today, no clear cut answer to stop this self destruction. We cannot stomp out every fire. We need preventative medicine, with others coopertaiung to make it happen. It's called the United Nations. But they have not done their job. Wielding the sword of democracy is not the answer, but diplomacy with a damn good spy drone plane and satellite system and military is more effective, plus a better CIA, if we have to attempt this all alone. Not involving ourselves in biting off more than we can chew or being the world's policeman when no one else will help will not work indefinitely. But also not backing down either. Quite a balancing act sorry to say. "Speak softly and carry a big stick?" Not sure if that works without other nations on your side with their big sticks to help.

U.N. started out OK, now just a corrupt political organization. I do not agree with U.N. Also disagree about Militia groups and AlQuida being in the same catagory although I know what your saying. If a person can't decide on right and wrong, as if there is none, how can anyone move forward. I think people need to train themselves ongoingly to have a mind of their own. All this shit is just my personal opinion. Most of these people around my neighborhood here with their political yard signs and bumper stickers etc.If you talk to them are nice people, and stupid as hell when you ask them questions. They don't know history, or their opinions are ambigious etc. And, they don't even get along with their own nieghbors, hahaha. Live life to the fullest gang members, it's too short...don't we all know it. I'm proud of the "greatest generation" and the sacrifices they made for our freedom.
