d day, + 1

not sure how i missed this yesterday...the 67 th anniversary of the landing at normandy , aka "operation overlord". the landing of 160,000 allied troops was a bloody day for all concerned . the success of the landing signaled the death knell of the nazis , and within a year hilter had committed suicide . over 10,00 allied casualties were suffered on that terrible but necessary day . coming so soon after memorial day , it is a very poignant reminder of the sacrifices humans make to maintain their freedom . to all those who were there , those who made it thru alive and those who didnt , i give my everlasting thanks ...and also the the thanks of a very grateful world...
