we lost a couple of my favorites in the last week . first ,
roger ebert , and then annette funicello . i liked them both
for different reasons of course . roger because he was well
written,funny and very personable . i watched him and his
partner gene siskel from the time they showed up on p.b.s.
and thru the various versions of the show .roger was the reason
i started reading on twitter , it was the academy awards show
and he was tweeting the show . i just about fell out of my chair
laughing . what a way with words that man had .
annette was one of my very first "crushes" , watching her every
day on the mickey mouse club one of my young lifes essentials .
i did move on to others , but she was my first , and as such she
always had a top spot in my heart . i suffered thru the beach
blanket movie series simply because of her . after she more or
less retired from a 25 year acting career my attention still
perked up a the mention of her name . i noted with sadness
her announcement of her disease , and was extremely
distressd to learn she had spent the last several years of
her in a coma . she was very lucky to have a devoted husband
and family who were with her until the end . and her fans ,
well we were with her too .
