Flashback of the  Old 27 Basement.

No I did not put trench coat on backwards. Flashback as in memory.

I was humming a tune that turned out to be Pretend by Nat King Cole, one of the may 78 rpms in the collection. immediate thought of how we used to use Grandma's old record player/radio. (wish I had that damn thing now).in her basement. When we were real little mom or dad would play the records, and we would tear around in a circle around the basement. Apparently the parents thought this was great because we would blow off steam under their supervision instead of  just random wreaking of havoc.

You could get a shock from the the metal needle arm until dad figured a way to ground it with some bare wire attached to some metal thing above on the ceiling (actually the 1st floor above) like a nail or something. Then we would bring our tricycles up north and ride around the circle in the basement but hit the metal oil tube on the cement floor to the furnace from the tank.So dad made this little flat ramp out of wood to ride over above the tube.

Often this was Saturday afternoon or night probably during the winter when there was not much to do outside.Eventually we learned to operate the  record player ourselves. When it was time to go to bed, Dad was sent to get us and would put on a short comedy show of being the last one up the stairs, but kept tripping and sliding down the stairs.. I later wondered how many beers it took  to get him loose and wacky enough to put on this show without feeling any pain, hahhaha.
