pearl harbor day,'07...

just a short piece , kind of a shout out to the brave men that were at pearl harbor on that day 66 years ago . amongst them a family member i believe . i had the info saved but for some reason i cannot access the files . so if anyone else (cough cough) can provide anything at all i would appreciate it very much ...

update: from dan...

"Yes my dad was in the U.S. at Pearl Harbor when it was bombed, took shrapnal in the leg and had to learn how to walk again. He didn't talk about it much at all. It was a very traumatic experience for him as he discussed it later (breaking down to me about it) it affected him into his adult life. 45 years later (or something like that, can't remember the exact date) he had surgery and the Dr. couldn't figure out what he was seeing there in the x ray. The surgeon went back in and retrieved more shrapnal that my dad was apparently walking around with for years, left over from the attack on Pearl Harbor. My dad did get awarded a pu rple heart for that but of course, (Ahem...) that is missing along with other momentos from his service in the U.S. Navy. I always appreciate you honoring our relatives, including our fathers who served in the military. I visited the memorial at Pearl Harbor in '76 and took photos that my dad wanted me to take. He really wasn't interested in looking at them though."
