fathers day weekend...

here is something i received awhile ago from mr. t. i thought it might be appropriate to post here this evening...

This would have been one of my favorite weekends up at Old 27 back in the old days. Fathers Day Weekend, maybe a visit from Mickles, do somethin' with dad (fishing? exploring the woods, visiting Paul Nass at the barn? home repair project?). Eat strawberries on one of those strawberry buns for dessert cause they're in season......maybe visit Dover folks. Longest days of the year. the swing set for 10 minutes of fun, hahaha. Cutting the tall grass with that grass "sickle" thing. Looking for treasures in the basement and garage.
Stomping out the moles in giant tan cowboy boots (heh heh). getting a drink of fresh water from the pipe in the park across the road while swatting mosquito's at the same time.

Plus: no modern day Jay's Sporting Goods complex 1 mile south of us, less houses, more country, less suburbia, no Mcdonald's and Burger King and hotels on what they now call "Hamburger Hill" (no lie) south of the 127 crossover bridge just north of Clare. Used to be called "27."

it did not get any better than that as far as I am concerned...

Yeah I remember those days. But I don't have a problem with "hamburger hill, or Jays. In fact I look forward to being able to stop there on my way up north and have a choice of eats. And I also still like going into Jay's. But yes alot of good memories. I almost forgot about the strawberry shortcake being a big favorite. There is plenty of wide open unspoiled country up there. More disturbing to me is ajohn's property and the park being closed and grown over so much. Who owns that park across from gramma's anyway, still the county?
